Welcome to "Cinema Herald". My aim is to bring movie reviews to a somewhat different level. I don't know about you guys but I'm sick and tired of Critics who dissect a movie to bits. Who cares about all that deep stuff, sometimes you just want to know if you'll be entertained or not. Is it worth me spending $10? Now don't get me wrong, sometimes when we watch a movie, it does require us to put on our thinking caps and I'll do that from time to time depending on the film I review but for the most part, I just want to know if I'm going to have a laugh or a cry or even crap my pants - in other words, will it take my mind off the fact that I'm broke and my rent is due for a few hours? Movies are a public service...they are to help us escape for a few hours and forget that we're overworked and under paid.

Blind Ambition (2008)

I saw this film at the Big Bear Lake film festival during their screening of the winning entries. I wasn't really excited to see it when I heard it was a about a blind girl running a amrathon. I'm not big on sports movies of any type. But I was very pleasantly surprised by this film.

It stars Deep Katdare as Suryah Shah, the older and supposedly successful architect brother, and Michelle Massey as his younger, blind sister, Sapna Shah. The story begins with Suryah coming home to visit (driving a porshe) after being away for two years. He is not quite as successful as he leads his family to believe. He finds his sister secretly training for a marathon and at first is against it but then decides to help her.

Suryah is extremely protective of his sister Sapna and this leads to some pretty funny moments, especially when she begins dating. This film had quite a bit of humor in it and I found myself laughing out loud along with the audience. It also had some moments which brought tears to your eyes.

Christopher Atkins (remember the Blue Lagoon?) plays Wild Bill, Suryah's best friend, and Vanessa Angel (boy does she look like Angelina Jolie) plays Autumn Milestone, Sapna's marathon trainer.

I would definitely recommend this movie once it hits the big screen, or if your lucky enough to have it playing at a film festival near you, go see it.

You may also need to add the email address admin -at- orblemail.com to your address book in order to receive Orble admin emails in the future.

Thanks,
