Whether you loved it or hated it, "Clash Of The Titans" has grossed USD$385,563,557 worldwide and it's still listed in the top 10 at the Box Office - so that means it's still earning money - which also means - YUP! There is going to be a sequel.
Sam Worthington will return as Perseus, along with the surviving characters for the sequel to the smash hit which is scheduled to be released sometime in 2012.
Director Louis Leterrier will not return as director for the sequel but will act as Executive Producer. Warner Brothers has not announced who will sit in the director's chair as of yet. Greg Berlanti, who penned "The Green Lantern", currently in production, will write the story and there's no word yet on who will pen the script. Berlanti has written for notable TV series such as "Everwood", "Dirty Sexy Money", and "Eli Stone". These are highly acclaimed TV shows, so let's hope that Berlanti's story will be a lot more interesting that the mangled mess of a plot we all had to suffer through in the remake.
I figure that there are a few of you who anticipated nothing less than a great and adventurous ride in the "The Clash Of The Titans" remake and yet you left the theater beyond disappointed - and now you probably feel skeptical that a sequel will fare any better. Let's take heart and remember that there have been sequels made that are better than the original - or in this case the original remake, if you want to get technical.
To name a few there's:
1. Aliens
2. Terminator 2: Judgment Day
3. The Empire Strikes Back
4. The Dark Knight
5. Mad Max II
6. The Godfather II
So with that in mind let's not lose hope and pray that Warner Brother's will hire people who actually know what they are doing and who have actually read Greek Mythology enough to get it halfway right.
