Coming Soon: Biutiful - Javier Bardem (Promo Trailer Teaser)

Category: Coming Soon!, Drama
U.S. Release: Unknown
Director: Alejandro González Iñárritu
Starring: Javier Bardem
Biutiful just premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. The film stars Javier Bardem as Uxbal, a former drug addict living on the fringes of Barcelona, Spain, who has cancer and only two months to live. Amplifying his problems are his two kids, a part-time prostitute ex-wife who suffers from bipolar disorder, African immigrants, gay Chinese lovers who supply his bootleg goods and his touchy relationship with a crooked cop. Yes, this is definitely an Iñárritu movie. - PlaylistNation
The trailer teaser also includes behind the scenes footage of the making of the movie, which shouldn't put you off because it doesn't distract from the overall haunting feel. I especially liked the beautiful and touching score by Gustavo Santaolalla.
The word from Cannes is that the critics are split down the middle. It has received grades ranging from A's to F's. There are not many critics I listen to - I only have one where I share the same conclusions, so I'm not too fussed by what everyone says but I'm sure that one thing for certain is that Javier might just become another threat with an outstanding performance. He has become one of my favorite actors. I first noticed him playing Reinaldo Arenas based on his autobiography, Before Night Falls, but my favorite film from him to date is his role in Vicky, Christina, Barcelona.
I'll definitely look out for this one. So far, it has no distributor, so there is no word as to when it will be released stateside.
