Welcome to "Cinema Herald". My aim is to bring movie reviews to a somewhat different level. I don't know about you guys but I'm sick and tired of Critics who dissect a movie to bits. Who cares about all that deep stuff, sometimes you just want to know if you'll be entertained or not. Is it worth me spending $10? Now don't get me wrong, sometimes when we watch a movie, it does require us to put on our thinking caps and I'll do that from time to time depending on the film I review but for the most part, I just want to know if I'm going to have a laugh or a cry or even crap my pants - in other words, will it take my mind off the fact that I'm broke and my rent is due for a few hours? Movies are a public service...they are to help us escape for a few hours and forget that we're overworked and under paid.

Coming Soon: Catfish - Huge buzz at Sundance (Trailer)

August 6th 2010 10:21
U.S. Release: September 17, 2010
Director(s): Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman
Starring: Nev Schulman

Catfish has been getting a lot of buzz at Sundance and now that the film is close to being released, early talk has been resurrected on this controversial film. Is it a faux documentary or is it real? Many claim that there are so many holes in the story for it to be real but yet the directors say it's all true.

The film follows Nev, a 24-year-old New York-based photographer, has no idea what he's in for when Abby, an eight-year-old girl from rural Michigan, contacts him on MySpace, seeking permission to paint one of his photographs. When he receives her remarkable painting, Nev begins a friendship and correspondence with Abby's family. But things really get interesting when he develops a cyber-romance with Abby's attractive older sister, Megan, a musician and model. Prompted by some startling revelations about Megan, Nev and his buddies embark on a road trip in search of the truth.

This film claims to document the budding cyber-romance between Nev and Megan and audiences have been praising it for being both thought-provoking and shocking, to say the least.

Whether it's real or not, you be the judge, the producers aren't saying anything - they are sticking to their story.

Those lucky enough to have attending the Melbourne International Film Festival will have had their chance to see th premier on August 5th. I have no information on the official release date.

I have been keeping my eye on this since Sundance. Looks like it could be intriguing.

I agree. It'll probably be ages before I get to see it so I'm looking forward to your review if you get to it first.
