Welcome to "Cinema Herald". My aim is to bring movie reviews to a somewhat different level. I don't know about you guys but I'm sick and tired of Critics who dissect a movie to bits. Who cares about all that deep stuff, sometimes you just want to know if you'll be entertained or not. Is it worth me spending $10? Now don't get me wrong, sometimes when we watch a movie, it does require us to put on our thinking caps and I'll do that from time to time depending on the film I review but for the most part, I just want to know if I'm going to have a laugh or a cry or even crap my pants - in other words, will it take my mind off the fact that I'm broke and my rent is due for a few hours? Movies are a public service...they are to help us escape for a few hours and forget that we're overworked and under paid.

Coming Soon: I'm Still Here starring Joaquin Phoenix (Teaser)

August 17th 2010 13:14
U.S. Release: September 10, 2010 (limited)
Director: Casey Affleck
Starring: Joaquin Phoenix

Okay, we all remember the crazy antics (or were they?) of Joaquin Phoenix last year. His sudden announcement of retiring from acting to pursue a career as a rapper, his peculiar behavior on Late Night With David Letterman, his bushy beard, and then there was his debut as a rap artist where he drunkenly fell off the stage. There were rumblings of a documentary chronicling his foray into rap music in the works that would be directed by his brother-in-law Casey Affleck. Then last year there was a rumor that all of it was a sham and that in actuality, it was a faux documentary.

Well people are no closer to knowing the truth still, but they will soon find out. Magnolia Pictures has just released a trailer teaser for "I'm Still Here". Is it a rap documentary? Is it real?

Affleck followed actor Joaquin Phoenix during his transition from the acting world to a career as an aspiring rapper. The film supposedly features Phoenix "snorting cocaine, ordering call girls, having oral sex with a publicist, treating his assistants abusively and rapping badly." Magnolia Pictures recently acquired rights after it was completed and is now bringing I'm Still Here to limited theaters starting September 10th. - Firstshowing.net

Deni - at first this looked like a joke that only the makers of this film would find funny, but when I watched the trailer I found it strangely intriguing......hmmmmm.....

Hey Shaun,

I don't know what to think of it either. I can't wait to hear more about it.
