Coming Soon: John Rabe (Trailer), a must see!
April 30th 2010 02:54
Category: Drama
U.S. Release Date: May 21, 2010 (Limited Release)
Director: Florian Gallenberger
Cast: Ulrich Tukur (The White Ribbon) as John Rabe, Daniel Brühl (Fredrick Zoller of Inglourious Basterds), and Steve Buscemi
In the same vein as Oskar Schindler, John Rabe is the story of a German businessman best known for his efforts to stop the atrocities brought on by the Japanese army during the Nanking Occupation in World War II. He helped to establish the Nanjing Safety Zone which sheltered some 200,000 Chinese people from slaughter during the massacre.
One thing I love about Historical films is that it brings to light some of those special moments in history that would have otherwise been either forgotten or buried - never to be known by future generations. I've never heard of John Rabe and I've very much looking forward to seeing this movie.
The trailer looks amazing!
This film debuted at the Berlin Film Festival in 2009 and opened in Europe last summer. It went on to win the Outstanding Feature Film in the German Film Awards.
