Welcome to "Cinema Herald". My aim is to bring movie reviews to a somewhat different level. I don't know about you guys but I'm sick and tired of Critics who dissect a movie to bits. Who cares about all that deep stuff, sometimes you just want to know if you'll be entertained or not. Is it worth me spending $10? Now don't get me wrong, sometimes when we watch a movie, it does require us to put on our thinking caps and I'll do that from time to time depending on the film I review but for the most part, I just want to know if I'm going to have a laugh or a cry or even crap my pants - in other words, will it take my mind off the fact that I'm broke and my rent is due for a few hours? Movies are a public service...they are to help us escape for a few hours and forget that we're overworked and under paid.

Coming Soon: Love Ranch - Joe Pesci & Helen Mirren (Trailer)

May 21st 2010 17:34
Category: Coming Soon!, Drama
U.S. Release: June 30, 2010
Director: Taylor Hackford
Starring: Joe Pesci, Helen Mirren, Bryan Cranston, Scout Taylor-Compton, Gina Gershon, Bai Ling

Joe Pesci & Helen Mirren
Love Ranch tells the story of Grace and Charlie Bontempo, a husband/wife team who own and run one of Nevada's first legalized brothel ranches. Their lives are irrevocably altered when Armando Bruza, a world famous heavy weight boxer from South America, is brought to the Ranch to train as part of Charlie's ever expanding entrepreneurial empire. Plans quickly go awry when Bruza comes between Grace and Charlie as an unforeseen romantic triangle develops that erupts into uncontrollable passion and murder.

Love Ranch is directed by Oscar winning filmmaker Taylor Hackford (Bukowski, The Idolmaker, Against All Odds, Bound by Honor, The Devil's Advocate, Proof of Life, Ray ). The screenplay was written by first time screenwriter, Mark Jacobson, who is credited for writing the article that Ridley Scott's American Gangster was based on.

Eat your heart out "Best Little Whorehouse In Texas". I think I will probably see this one after I've read a few reviews. The word is that it hasn't shown at any film festivals before it's release - which might be a bad sign. Anyhow, it's great to see Joe Pesci back in a slightly different character.
