Welcome to "Cinema Herald". My aim is to bring movie reviews to a somewhat different level. I don't know about you guys but I'm sick and tired of Critics who dissect a movie to bits. Who cares about all that deep stuff, sometimes you just want to know if you'll be entertained or not. Is it worth me spending $10? Now don't get me wrong, sometimes when we watch a movie, it does require us to put on our thinking caps and I'll do that from time to time depending on the film I review but for the most part, I just want to know if I'm going to have a laugh or a cry or even crap my pants - in other words, will it take my mind off the fact that I'm broke and my rent is due for a few hours? Movies are a public service...they are to help us escape for a few hours and forget that we're overworked and under paid.

Coming Soon: Super 8 - J.J. Abrams (Trailer Teaser)

May 12th 2010 02:24
U.S. Release: 2011 (TBA)
Director: J.J. Abrams
Starring: TBA

For those of you who have seen "Iron Man 2", you should have gotten a chance to see the teaser trailer of the new J.J. Abrams movie, "Super 8" in which he's collaborating with Steven Spielberg.

The marketing of secrecy has begun and the plot for this movie will be kept under lock and key - the trailer is brilliant and it leaves just enough to wet the appetite, while tasty morsels will be released here and there for those that are hungry for more until we near its release date.

I've been reading several articles about the movie, some have even said that it's a prequel that's linked to "Cloverfield", however it's a well known fact that Abrams likes teasing his audiences with interesting ideas that are not necessarily true.

According to Deadline.com Paramount officially announced it will start production this fall, and hit theaters next summer. Abrams wrote the script and will direct and produce under his and Bryan Burk's Bad Robot label, as well as Steven Spielberg's Amblin banner.

"In 1979, the US Air Force closed a section of Area 51. All the materials were to be transported to a secure facility in Ohio." The truck hits the train, there is a tremendous explosion destroying the vehicle and the train. The camera focuses on one train car that wasn't destroyed. A heavy pounding is heard from inside.

The film is a personal passion project for Abrams, an homage to the films he loved as a teen. It will be shot for $45 million which puts Super 8 in league with the Bad Robot-produced Cloverfield. But it is not a sequel to that film as has been speculated. Abrams will shoot this in traditional style, not hand-held. He'll then go to work on the Star Trek sequel, which is dated for a Summer 2012 release.

I'm a huge J.J. Abrams fan and I don't know if I'm anxious to see more of the trailer or the movie at this point. It looks fantastic.
