Welcome to "Cinema Herald". My aim is to bring movie reviews to a somewhat different level. I don't know about you guys but I'm sick and tired of Critics who dissect a movie to bits. Who cares about all that deep stuff, sometimes you just want to know if you'll be entertained or not. Is it worth me spending $10? Now don't get me wrong, sometimes when we watch a movie, it does require us to put on our thinking caps and I'll do that from time to time depending on the film I review but for the most part, I just want to know if I'm going to have a laugh or a cry or even crap my pants - in other words, will it take my mind off the fact that I'm broke and my rent is due for a few hours? Movies are a public service...they are to help us escape for a few hours and forget that we're overworked and under paid.

Coming Soon: The Last Exorcism (Trailer) A Must See!

May 26th 2010 02:11
Category: Coming Soon!, Horror
U.S. Release Date: August 27, 2010
Director: Daniel Stamm
Starring: Patrick Fabian, Iris Bahr, Louis Herthum, Ashley Bell, Tony Bentley, Caleb Jones, Shanna Forrestall, Allen Boudreaux, Logan Craig Reid and Jamie Alyson Caudle

Lionsgate has debuted the trailer for the faux-documentary The Last Exorcism and boy does this look very scary. I think they finally got it right with this one. There is no over use of CGI and the overall feel looks dark, very atmospheric and utterly creepy.

It's about Evangelical minister Marcus Cotton, who performed religious rites he did not believe in for years, and he's about to quit the business. But before he does, he agrees to let a documentary crew film his last exorcism. Things don't go as planned - Yahoo.

This movie was previously known as Cotton. It's directed by Daniel Stamm (A Necessary Death) and co-written by Huck Botko and Andrew Gurland, who also collaborated on the comedy Mail Order Wife.

I like that there are no big named actors/actresses in this movie. I think it's clever because it gives it a touch of realism and it also throws the audience off as to who lives or dies. This was one of the reasons why Katherine Bigelow decided to use unknowns in The Hurt Locker. Using a known actor/actress you pretty much know who'll make it to the end.

I'm not really a huge fan of these types of movies, not because they frighten me but because I'm not a huge believer in this sort of thing but I'd definitely give this one a go because it looks more simplistic and thought-provoking and there's a feel that the character who is a skeptic will go through a monumental change throughout the course of his investigation. There's nothing like a good character arc in a movie like this.
