Being a huge fan of British Comedy, I was happy to have discovered this show while en-route to Taiwan from Korea.
It's called "The Inbetweeners". It's a story of four teenage boys who struggle to find their place at a sixth form school. It follows Will McKenzie (Simon Bird), the uptight brainiac of the group who was forced to transfer from a well respected private school to Rutledge Park Comprehensive because of the financial difficulties his mother faces after the divorce from his father.
After being verbally attacked for carrying a briefcase and humiliated by being forced to wear a large green name-badge, he meets and befriends Simon Cooper (Joe Thomas), Neil Sutherland (Blake Harrison) and Jay Cartwright (James Buckley) - all of whom have their own unique struggles.
Simon is the oldest and while he seems normal than most, he loses his cool around attractive girls, especially Carli, a childhood friend whom he's harbored romantic feelings for since they were young. Neil is a bit "slow". He has great dancing skills and an questionably "gay" father but to his credit he just cruises through his awkward phase with ease because he not bright enough to realize that others think he's a "twat". Jay is sex starved. He constantly brags and overly exaggerates his alleged sexual conquests. For the most part the girls he brags about banging curiously live in either another town or another country.
Here's a free preview of the premiere episode.

While at times the humor a bit too crass for my taste, I admit to being vastly entertained by this show. It can be over the top but it's great fun and I can't help but be curious about what other scrapes these four lovable losers find themselves in next. And they are surrounded by a great supporting cast of other colorful and shady characters who make their lives a living hell. There's Mr. Gilbert (Greg Davies), the hilariously sadistic head of the sixth form school who takes great delight in the misfortunes of these four and then there's Charlotte Hinchcliffe (Emily Atack), the school slut and object of Will's desire and tormentor of hormones
If you are ever at a loss for what to rent, and in the mood for something that's guaranteed to make you laugh - be sure to check out "The Inbetweeners"!
And Season 3 is already in the works.
