Welcome to "Cinema Herald". My aim is to bring movie reviews to a somewhat different level. I don't know about you guys but I'm sick and tired of Critics who dissect a movie to bits. Who cares about all that deep stuff, sometimes you just want to know if you'll be entertained or not. Is it worth me spending $10? Now don't get me wrong, sometimes when we watch a movie, it does require us to put on our thinking caps and I'll do that from time to time depending on the film I review but for the most part, I just want to know if I'm going to have a laugh or a cry or even crap my pants - in other words, will it take my mind off the fact that I'm broke and my rent is due for a few hours? Movies are a public service...they are to help us escape for a few hours and forget that we're overworked and under paid.

Mindless guy flicks

forgetting sarah marshall
good luck chuck

Life has been particularly stressful lately so I was looking for something to watch to take my mind off things. I didn't want to watch anything that took any thought whatsoever. I do read reviews on movies I'm interested in and sometimes I will choose a movie based on what I read. The reviews I read on Good Luck Chuck and Forgetting Sarah Marshall weren't exactly positive. So I decided not to watch either one, until one day when I just wanted to watch something funny and mindless.

Chuck and Sarah were just what I needed. Something that took zero brain cells to watch. No complicated plots to follow. No philosophical conversations to try to comprehend. Just simple male grade school humor. The plots are pretty much the same - boy loses girl, boy screws everyone he can, boy gets (different) girl, with a generous sprinkling of T and A throughout. You could run to the store in the middle of the movie and still be able to follow the storyline when you got back.

While most reviews were putting down these movies, there really is a place for these films. So the next time your head is full of life's problems and theres no room for anything else, grab a mindless guy flick and enjoy.
