Welcome to "Cinema Herald". My aim is to bring movie reviews to a somewhat different level. I don't know about you guys but I'm sick and tired of Critics who dissect a movie to bits. Who cares about all that deep stuff, sometimes you just want to know if you'll be entertained or not. Is it worth me spending $10? Now don't get me wrong, sometimes when we watch a movie, it does require us to put on our thinking caps and I'll do that from time to time depending on the film I review but for the most part, I just want to know if I'm going to have a laugh or a cry or even crap my pants - in other words, will it take my mind off the fact that I'm broke and my rent is due for a few hours? Movies are a public service...they are to help us escape for a few hours and forget that we're overworked and under paid.

The end of "Mad Men"?

April 21st 2010 09:11

While "Mad Men" is currently filming its 4th Season, Matt Weiner, it's creator and writer announced at the National Association of Broadcasters in Las Vegas that Season 6 could possible be the end of the award winning and highly successful series. Or more specifically that he wouldn't return as writer after Season 6.

According to The Weekly Blend:

While fielding questions about how he is able to create great content year after year for the series, Weiner said that he could not see writing or even continuing the series past a 6th season if that were to happen.

Mad Men is the story of a prestigious Advertising Agency in 1960's New York and the men who run it. It's a sophisticated period drama that works on many levels. The costume and set designs are impeccable, the story lines - while nothing new, are very engaging because nothing is outwardly spelled out - but there's so much simmering underneath the surface that you can't help but be drawn in.

The idea was to originally take the show through the 60's where these characters' lives would no doubt be forever changed by the social and political turbulence of that era and as far as I'm concerned I think it's a good idea to end it there. No one likes for a TV show to over extend it's welcome and it's much better to end on a high note rather tan no note at all.

It's always sad to see quality TV, especially when there is so little of it going around, come to an end.
